The tragedy at Virginia Tech (here) gives the foot stomping, Constitution trampling, anti-gun and leftist liberal media more "ammunition" for their cause. I was reading the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation this weekend (that's what we call the AJC here in Atlanta) goes to great lengths to skew data and paint pictures to satisify their own agendas. If you thought it was the duty of the media to simply report, and not taint their "facts" to suit their own beliefs and agendas, it's time to Wake Up!

On page A7 of the April 29, 2007 edition there is a half page article titled "Responding to the Bloodshed". In this article it briefly talks about similar tragedies in other countries. The articles are specifically talking about mass gun deaths related to murder...in other words, those in which some lunatic idiot goes off the deep end and starts randomly shooting and killing people. It then goes on to post a chart that shows World Gun Deaths, and herein lies the start of the tainted and agendized view of Mr. William J. Kole of the Associated Press. The chart shows the United States at the top of the heap with a huge gap over other countries, according to the chart 9.42 deaths per 100,000 population (based on 2004 figures). The chart and the wording of the article may lead one to believe (intentionally I think) that the USA has the highest number of murders nearly 30% greater than any other country. Well, what the numbers don't point out are these numbers include all deaths, including accidental gun shots (Cheney), and suicides. According to the Dept of Justice, the homicide rate (taking out accidental and suicide deaths) the rate is actualy 4.32. the other interesting thing about the chart is that other countries actually report their numbers separately. so the US is actually below many countries, including Switzerland, France, Ireland, and many African countries.

So be carfeul what you read and believe, do your own research and don't take for granted that news is not biased. Look for more knee jerk reactions from leftist liberals that want to take away more of our Constitutional rights...to make us safer.
